The Horizontal Mock Smock Knit Stitch creates an openwork net fabric that is richly textured thanks to the horizontally slanted mock smock effect, which is achieved by working stitch clusters through the back loops of three live stitches.
This stitch is worked over four rows and all wrong side rows require only purling. As the mock smock clusters require knitting multiple times through the back loops of three live stitches before these are dropped off the left-hand needle, the preceding purl rows should be worked very loosely. To ensure that the clusters can be worked with ease, it may also be beneficial to work the even rows with a slightly smaller needle.

Horizontal Mock Smock Knit Stitch Pattern
Multiple of 3 plus 2 stitches
Row 1 (wrong side): K1, purl to last stitch, k1.
Row 2 (right side): K1, *Work Mock Smock Cluster into following three stitches on LH needle:
Insert the right hand (RH) needle through the back loop of the first stitch on the left hand (LH) needle as if to knit, pull the loop through and place the loop on the RH needle without dropping the stitch on the LH needle. Next, proceed to insert the RH needle through the back loop of the first and second stitches on the LH needle as if to knit both stitches together through the back loop, pull the loop through both stitches and place on the RH needle without dropping the two live stitches on the LH needle. Finally, insert the RH needle through the back loop of the first, second and third stitch on the LH needle as if to knit the three stitches together through the back loop, place the loop on RH needle and drop the three stitches on the LH needle. This completes the mock smock cluster of the three stitches. Repeat from * to last stitch, k1.
Row 3: K1, purl to last stitch, k1.
Row 4: K2, *Work Mock Smock Cluster into the next three stitches on the LH needle, repeat from * to last three stitches. Work a mock smock cluster into the next two stitches on the LH needle, k1.
Repeat rows 1 to 4 for pattern.

I'm so glad I discovered your blog. I enjoy knitting but don't spend enough time on it. I think your posts will inspire me to change that.
