The stitch can best be described as a 'lace panel' and it's advisable to frame the stitch motif against a background of reverse stockinette stitch to make the texture of the lace panel stand out.
Depending on the tightness of your knitting, you may find it easier to use a crochet hook when knitting four stitches together whilst pulling the yarn through. (This is required on row 3 of the lace pattern.)
Ostrich Plume Knit Stitch
(The sample in the images shows the lace panel worked over a multiple of 13 stitches on a background of reverse stockinette stitch. The instructions below are for the lace panel only.)
Row 1 (right side): Knit all stitches.
Row 2: Purl all stitches.
Row 3: K4tog, [yo,k1] 5 times, yo, k4tog.
Row 4: Purl all stitches.
Repeat Rows 1 to 4 for pattern.
The classic version of the Ostrich Plume lace stitch motif (pictured below in blue yarn), which is worked over 32 rows (no fear though - most of them are pure purl or knit rows), is available here.
