The Weekly Swatch: Vine Lace Knit Stitch

 

For this week's swatch I knitted two samples of the vine lace knit stitch, an extremely versatile lace knit stitch, producing the effect of zig-zagging lace columns. The resulting lace motif is suitable both for tubular garments worked in the round and those worked flat. 

This variation of the stitch is knitted over 16 rows on a multiple of 10 plus 1 stitches and all even rows are purled throughout.

Row 1 (right side): K1,*k2tog, k4, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1, rep from * to end.

Row 2: Purl all stitches 

Row 3: K1, *k2tog, k3, (yo, k1) twice, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 4: Purl all stitches.

Row 5: K1, *k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 6: Purl all stitches.

Row 7: K1, *k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k3, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 8: Purl all stitches.

Row 9: K1, *k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k4, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 10: Purl all stitches.

Row 11: K1, *k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k3, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 12: Purl all stitches.

Row 13: K1, *k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 14: Purl all stitches.

Row 15: K1, *k2tog, k3, (yo, k1) twice, ssk, k1, rep from * to end. 

Row 16: Purl all stitches.

Repeat Rows 1 to 16 for pattern.
