It's been absolute ages since I last worked on a cable knit project and only one of my weekly swatch posts features a cable knit stitch. High time to address this absence of cable knitting and so I have decided to prepare a cable knit swatch for this week's weekly swatch post.
I have chosen the Lattice Cable Knit Stitch, a classic and simple cable knit stitch, which is knitted over 10 rows (once the set up is done, 7 rows) on a multiple of 6 stitches.
Lattice Cable Knit Stitch
(Requires a multiple of 6 stitches.)
Row 1 (right side): *K4, p2, rep. from * to end.
Row 2 (wrong side): *K2, p4, rep. from * to end.
Row 3: *Sl 2 sts on to cable needle and leave at back of work, k2, k2 from cable needle, p2, rep. from * to end.
Row 4: *K2, p4, rep. from * to end.
Row 5: P2, *k2, sl 2 sts on to cable needle and leave at back of work, k2, p2 from cable needle rep from * to last 4 stitches, k4.
Row 6: *P4, k2, rep. from * to end.
Row 7: *P2, sl 2 sts on to cable needle and leave at front of work, k2, k2 from cable needle, rep from * to end.
Row 8: *P4, k2, rep. from * to end.
Row 9: K4, *sl 2 sts on to cable needle and leave at front of work, p2, k2 from cable needle, k2, rep. from * to last 2 stitches, p2.
Row 10: *K2, p4, rep. from * to end.
Repeat Row 3 to Row 10 for pattern.
