The Weekly Swatch: Ratchet Eyelet Knit Stitch

Catching up with the weekly swatch posts today, next up is the Ratchet Eyelet knit stitch. 

This stitch motif is knitted over 28 rows, making this a more elaborate stitch. When complete, the stitch results in what looks like garter stitch medallions, which are framed in a circle of eyelets, resembling ratchets. All the wrong side rows are purled throughout, allowing you to take a break from all the in- and decreasing on the right side rows. 

Cogwheel / Ratchet Eyelet Lace Knit Stitch

(Requires a multiple of 8 plus 1 stitches.)

Row 1 (right side): K2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, *k3, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, sl1, k1, posso, rep from * to last 2 stitches, k2.

Row 2 (wrong side): Purl all stitches.

Row 3: K1, *k2tog, yo, k3, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, rep. from * to end.

Row 4: Purl all stitches.

Row 5: K2tog, yo, k5, *yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k5, rep. from * to last 2 stitches, yo, sl1, k1, psso.

Row 6: Purl all stitches.

Row 7: Sl1, k1, psso, yo, k5, *yo, sl 2tog knitwise, k1, p2sso, yo, k5, rep. from * to last 2 stitches, yo, k2tog. 

Row 8: Purl all stitches.

Row 9: Repeat Row 7

Row 10: Purl all stitches.

Row 11: K2, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, *k3, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, rep from * to last 2 stitches, k2.

Row 12: Purl all stitches.

Row 13: K3, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, *k5, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, rep. from * to last 3 stitches, k3.

Row 14: Purl all stitches.

Row 15: K1, *yo, sl1, k1, psso, k3, k2tog, yo, k1, rep. from * to end. 

Row 16: Purl all stitches.

Row 17: Repeat Row 11.

Row 18: Purl all stitches.

Row 19: Repeat Row 13.

Row 20: Purl all stitches.

Row 21: K3, yo, sl 2tog knitwise, k1, p2sso, yo, *k5, yo, sl 2tog knitwise, k1, p2sso, yo, rep. from * to last 3 stitches, k3.

Row 22: Purl all stitches.

Row 23: Repeat Row 21.

Row 24: Purl all stitches.

Row 25: Repeat Row 3.

Row 26: Purl all stitches.

Row 27: Repeat Row 5.

Row 28: Purl all stitches.

Repeat Rows 1 to 28 for pattern.
