The Shell Rib Knit Stitch is a simple four-row-repeat knit stitch, featuring bobbles with the appearance of shells against a background of reverse stockinette stitch.
This stitch requires a multiple of 5 plus 2 stitches. The shell motifs are created on row 4 by purling, knitting and purling into the same stitch.
Shell Rib Knit Stitch Pattern
Multiple of 5 plus 2 stitches
Row 1 (right side) : P2, *k3, p2; repeat from * to end.
Row 2 (wrong side): K2, *p3, k2; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: P2, *sl1, k2tog, psso, p2; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: K2, *(p1, k1, p1 in next stitch), k2; repeat from * to end.
